Artist Statement
Anjenette Britton is a multifaceted designer and visual artist specializing in oil painting, fashion design, and illustration. Her work draws from identity, culture, and personal narrative, reflecting the richness and complexity of the Black experience. Inspired by artists like Kehinde Wiley and costume designer Ruth Carter, she uses bold color, thoughtful composition, and functional design to create pieces that are both visually striking and purposeful.
Anjenette’s design philosophy is rooted in innovation, cultural storytelling, and intentionality. She was named a Top 5 Finalist in the Harlem’s Fashion Row x Nike Design Combine and is an industry-certified apparel designer through the Future Sole Program powered by Nike and PLC Detroit. Her apparel designs include custom gowns, transformative outerwear, and functional uniforms that blend utility with cultural expression.
She is also the founder of InHer Healing, a stationery brand created to promote mental health awareness and self-care for Black women through journaling, planning, and reflection. With a background in graphic design, fashion design, and curatorial work, Anjenette merges technical precision with emotional depth—producing work that not only tells a story but inspires connection, healing, and pride.
